Magical Matariki kite 💫

 Hello Bloggers,

Today I have finished my Matariki kite. On the 2 July is Matariki, which is when we celebrate the Maori new year.

The Matariki and the Pleiades star cluster, have many stories attached to them. We looked at two of them, one about how Ranginui and papatuanuku were separated by Tane Mahuta, and how Tawwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts into the sky

My kite is Tawhirimatea with koru's around him as wind.

What Matariki story do you know? tell me in the comments.

Super support🏋

 Hello bloggers,

Today we were doing STEAM again. This time it was making something that can hold a book and is 15cm high. In my group of five were Flynn, Taylor, Tain, Aradin and Me. We were only allowed 1 metre of tape and 10 sheets of newspaper.

Have you made something like this before? tell me in the comments.

Magical Matariki art

 Hello Bloggers,

Today I finished my Matariki art for Matariki, which is a print, we put it on foam which we had to be careful not to put big indents. If you don't know what Matariki is then here's a quick explanation, Matariki is the start of the Maori new year. on the foam, I drew Mt cook on the bottom and the Matariki stars up at the top, with swirls around them as you can see. when we draw on the foam you have to make sure that you use a biro pen and push down slightly so it digs in just enough so when you put on the ink the lines are white like mine. Make sure that when you draw on your mountain and stars you do it opposite because when you do the print it acts as a mirror so if you mirror it when you draw it, it will be fine.

Here you will found step by step on how to make it.

Step 1: Grab some draft paper.

Step 2: Draw your stars, swirls and mountains. (make sure you mirror it!)

Step 3: Grab your foam.

Step 4: Cope what you have on your draft paper and put it on your foam. (make sure you do it in biro pen)

Step 5: Put lots of sellotape (in a rectangular shape) on a table.

Step 6: Put some ink on the sellotape.

Step 7: Then grab a roller.

Step 8: Start rolling the roller back and forth in the ink.

Step 9: Roll the ink onto your foam. (you can do different colours if you want)

Step 10: Then put some A3 paper on top of your foam.

Step 11: Grab a roller that doesn't have any Ink on it.

Step 12: Roll the roller on the A3 paper, for like 7 sec.

Step 13: Take the A3 paper off the foam and you're done!

Step 14: you can rinse off your foam and put some different colours on it.

Super STEAM

Hello Bloggers, today we did STEAM in teams of 5 or 6, I had Kayla, Owen, Ella, Holly and Kaia. The challenge was we had to get an egg down a high place, we had 3 A4 paper, 1 A5 card, string, scissors, a plastic bag, 1 piece of draft paper and cellotape. on the slide, there's photos of the thing we made to hold the egg, I like to think of it as the ballon. Have you done a STEAM before? tell me in the comments.

Amazing Adaptation

Hello Bloggers, during literacy we learned about what adaptation is, the different types of adaptation and what it does to animals. the three types of adaptation are Behavioural, Structural and Physiological. A quick summary of adaptation: adaptation is where an animal or person changes to suit their environment, but it takes 100 and 1000 years to happen

Do you know of an animal that's gone through adaptation? tell me in the comments.

Horrible Holocaust

Hello Bloggers, for Literacy I have been learning about the Holocaust and concentration camps, and I have made a site about it.  I have made connections to Once by Morris Gleitzman, and the world. I had to use the past tense. I used some technical words. Because of the Holocaust, we had world war ll.

Do you have an interest in history? I have made Why What, Where Who and How questions. For example, my Where question is Where were all the concentration camps located. Here is the Link to my website
